Research Abstract:

The whole summer I spent was sitting in my cubicle working with a computer. My project was on Borrelia burgdorferi. It is a bacteria species that is known for lyme disease. I had to identify orthologous orfs in the 7 genomes of B. burgdorferi. Before I could work on the research, I needed to learn some computer skills, such as UNIX, SQL and PERL. During the project, I was given some of plasmids. I worked on 9 out of 30 plasmids. I extracted data from the database and generated synteny maps . These were served as guides to find orthologous orfs. Finding all the orthologous orfs is finished. The data can be use for future evolutionary analysis.
